Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification Requirement for Cer.A.T.T.

The requirement to maintain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS/ALS) certification has been outlined in ASATT’s Scope of Practice (SOP) since 2015.

Holding the Cer.A.T.T. credential means that maintaining current ACLS/ALS certification is a mandatory ASATT requirement that applies to every recertification cycle, regardless of whether an individual’s facility requires ACLS training or provides reimbursement.

ACLS/ALS Continuing Education Credits

  • ACLS Renewal: 4 CEs
  • Certification must be accredited by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Submit a front-and-back copy of your certificate in PDF, JPEG, or PNG format with your recertification application.

ACLS/ALS certification must be accredited by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Technologists holding the Cer.A.T.T. credential must earn a total of 30 Continuing Education Credits (CEs) during each 2-year recertification period, including ACLS/ALS certification. A valid ACLS/ALS certification must be submitted with your recertification application.

As part of ASATT’s commitment to professional development and upholding industry standards, it is essential that Certified Anesthesia Technologists remain compliant with ACLS certification requirements to ensure the safe and effective delivery of anesthesia care.

While your facility may not require ACLS training or offer reimbursement, holding the Cer.A.T.T. credential means this is a mandatory ASATT certification requirement. Please note that even if you were previously allowed to recertify without submitting ACLS documentation, it is required for every recertification cycle, without exception. Recertification will not be permitted without a valid ACLS certification.

Thank you for your commitment to maintaining the highest standards in anesthesia technology.
